Pregnant and crafty

Ive been a very busy bunny recently, what with going to nursery induction afternoons, midwife appointments and finishing off the last of my childminding paperwork before my maternity leave starts in a few weeks its been non stop. Im 29 weeks this week so I still have 11 weeks left to go (more if im unlucky) and im already feeling slow, heavy and uncomfortable so expect some pregnancy related moaning in the coming weeks.

On the plus side ive been childminding less so ive had more time to make things, I updated my folksy shop this morning so be sure to have a little look if you have time, any feedback on the items, prices etc is appreciated and of course if you would like to buy something that is very welcome too and will definatly be going towards the babys room decorating fund. Here is a little of what ive been up to, im afraid I have gone a little yoyo mad im definatly going to make afew cushion covers and a throw, I find that hand sewing is very calming and will be cutting some circles to take on holiday with me.
Sad huh? Anyway enjoy the pics and take care x x x

A bit of this and that

This morning i have updated my folksy shop with a few bits and bobs and it took ages, i had to take and edit photos and then list the items and its taken me nearly 3 hours! oh well its not like i had anything better to do ;)

(sage green and pink floral yo yo corsage)

(blue floral and red polka dot corsage)

( and a selection of different colourways)

(and yet more colourways)

i have gone a bit yo yo mad, they are so easy to make, you can do it in front if the t.v and they look ace when they are all jazzed up with buttons and ribbon. i have pinned one to my new teawagontales bag. she has a beautiful blog and a lovely etsy shop. id recommend a lookkie if you have time. Anyway with the amount of yoyos i have i think im going to start a quilt, it will be my first and hopefully not my last.
I have just started following this blog beaky crafts i brought a brooch from this lady a while ago and i just found her business card in a pile of yarn at the bottom of a basket. her blog is ace, and her folksy shop is great too i would suggest a little peep if you have time,i hope the link works as its the first one i have done. I'm getting the hang of this blogging lark. I have tried out a bread recipe on her blog and it was yummy, it was for feta and sun dried tomato bread, its lovely with a but of salad and hummus.

anyway this blog post has been 3 days in the making due to blogger being a bit pants and not uploading my pictures so sorry for the wait.

Take care
Becci

P.S. All of the blogs i follow are ace and all are worth a look at and most also have little folksy/etsy shops with lots of lovely and creative things in. Please take the time to have a look and support the handmade revolution!!!

Bunting, Strawberrys and Tea with Alice

As you can see from the picture i have been very busy sewing some bits and bobs, shopping and tea drinking. As i am doing my first craft fair in August i thought i would crack on and get some things made as i will be 34 weeks pregnant by then and unable to reach my sewing machine. ive made some bookmarks, strawberry pin cushions and bunting. what else do you think i should make? i plan on making some crochet brooches and cuffs, some teacup pin cushions and some upcycled tea light holders. i have a cupcake stand full of hair candy already made. I have never sold at a craft fair before and havnt a clue what to take so im just going to take what i have and see what goes down well, any suggestions you have would help me out lots as im sure i will be very nervous leading up to it.

I got this lovely book from amazon last week and i cant put it down the pictures are amazing and the instructions seem to be clear and well thought out. i think i may actually make something from this craft book instead of just look through it. Also the lovely lady from down the road gave me some fabric which has now been washed and crammed carefully placed in to my ever growing fabric stash. i love fabric.

and last but not least here are some pics of the bunting i have been working on, they are up in my folksy shop but id love to hear any comments you may have about the photography, my blog/shop or even the bunting itself.
Thanks for reading x x x

Who likes strawberrys?

The answer is......me and my family. Infact we did a P.Y.O trip at the weekend and managed to go a little mad. We ended up paying 7 quid for a basket of strawberrys. Ahhhh well im sure we will eat them, and we did enjoy a bit of time together in the sunshine so it was well worth it, the strawberrys were massive and very yummy and im sure the kids ate more than we paid for.

I love doing simple things like strawberry picking it makes me appreciate how lucky we are to have access to lovely activities like that. Has anyone else had any fun outdoors adventures recently?

Busy busy busy

Today has been filled with sewing and cooking. I love to do both of these as I get a great deal of satisfaction from making things for me and my family. I had a go at making some strawberrys from this months fabulous molly makes.

I had this lovely blue metal basket thing as a pressie when I was pregnant. It held a brilliant eddible bouqet made from fruit,it lived on my kitchen window sil untill recently and I was at a bit of a loss as what to do with it. But I think the strawberrys look just fine.

I also got some more yummy fabric in the post today. I think I may have a fabric
obsession,i buy some at least once a week.

And last but not least my yummy dinner. Its a sort of chick pea/ sweet potato chilli type soup. It was supposed to be just a vegie chilli but it didnt look right so I added a few things, blended it a bit and served with creme frache and naan bread.
Whatever it was it was utterly yummy and the slow cooker was soon empty.

I like to experiment with food and hardly ever follow a recipie to the letter. I find that the more I do it the more confident I become with flavours, its a fun learning adventure.
